Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed: April 27, 2026
Counsely is committed to digital accessibility for everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe everyone should have equal access to college-guidance tools, resources, and support — regardless of ability or where in the world they live.
Conformance Target
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA and aligning with:
- EN 301 549 v3.2.1 (the European harmonised accessibility standard)
- The European Accessibility Act (EAA), applicable from 28 June 2025, including transposing national laws (e.g., Germany's BFSG)
- The UK Equality Act 2010
- The US Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508
- The Accessible Canada Act (ACA) and Ontario AODA where applicable
- The Australian Disability Discrimination Act 1992
Current Status
The Services partially conform to WCAG 2.2 AA. We have taken the following steps and continue to build on them:
- Designing pages with semantic HTML and a logical heading structure to support screen readers.
- Improving color contrast, font sizing, and focus indication.
- Identifying key user flows that must be fully operable by keyboard alone.
- Progressively adding descriptive alt text and ARIA labels.
- Improving captions and transcript availability where we publish video or audio.
Known Non-Conformances
- Some screens have not yet been fully tested with NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, or TalkBack.
- Some color-contrast ratios on legacy components do not yet meet AA in every theme.
- Some interactive controls lack a fully visible focus ring under all themes.
- Some images and icons are missing descriptive alt text.
Remediation Roadmap
- Q3 2026: complete a full screen-reader audit and fix critical findings.
- Q4 2026: contrast and focus-ring sweep across all themes.
- Q1 2027: external accessibility audit by a qualified third party.
Assistive-Technology Compatibility
We aim to support recent versions of NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, and high-contrast modes in Windows and macOS. If you use a different assistive technology and encounter a barrier, please let us know.
Accommodations & Alternative Formats
If you experience an accessibility barrier or need content in an alternative format (large print, plain-text, etc.), email accessibility@getcounsely.com (or support@getcounsely.com). We aim to acknowledge within 5 business days and to provide an alternative way to access the information or service.
